Overview of the range of services
Dr. Möhring und Partner offer the following freelance services

"Everything from one source"
Qualified and experienced service partners
The "everything from a single source" concept offers our customers the option to focus primarily on their core business, while Dr. Möhring und Partner take care of the customers' IT both conceptually and technically in accordance with the contract.
Specialized professional groups such as lawyers, tax offices or accounting offices are happy to rely on Dr. Möhring und Partner' many years of experience with vertical solutions such as BeA (lawyer's mailbox), Lexware or DATEV, both in terms of their setup, access management and the necessary updates and security.
Numerous certifications from well-known manufacturers underline the expertise that has grown over five decades in IT:
Consulting, conceptual design, implementation.
Regular further certification, technical training and the use of expert knowledge in everyday life are the internal focus at Dr. Möhring und Partner.

Remote Service / Security
Freelancers, alike other specialized professionals such as lawyers, tax advisors, accounting offices, insurance brokers and financial advisors use customized solutions provided by service providers for secure data storage and for accessing third-party data, in their case their clients, which require special care and data protection (GDPR-conformity).
Thus endpoint access to such sensitive data must be set up at higher levels of security in the clients' offices and companies, to avoid access by unauthorized third parties, and block avoidable operating errors by the use of unsuitable tools by employees.
In such cases, Dr. Möhring und Partner's task is to check endpoint security, the security at employees' workstations, to implement programs securely, to keep access secure and to train employees in secure processes and procedures.
After an initial clarification of the system environment and its adaptation, services can then usually be exercizised remotely.

SaaS & Managed Services
Software as a Service is sometimes mistakenly equated with “cloud-based applications”.
Software as a Service mostly refers to devices on-premise, that are in the company.
Software is currently no more purchased once - as it was the case in the past - and then released to the customer with a license for use.
Software nowadays is licensed for periods of use, similar to cloud-based subscriptions, including the update and upgrade service, thus named SaaS in the true sense of the word.
With cloud-based subscriptions, programs are no longer installed locally, but are stored on the servers of the service provider, whose software is usually used via an Internet browser.
With SaaS, the subscription contains the promise to use the software for the paid period of use, and also to store all of the customers' data either on the service provider's servers - i.e. in the cloud, or locally in the on-premise infrastructure.

Setting up NAS & archive structures
On-premise or cloud?
For small busineses run by self-employed people or freelancers, the financial costs of an on-premise IT architecture in the company with their own server seem to be too expensive, while the alternative of moving all professional data to the cloud to an external service provider meant the remote storage of personal data that concerns customers frequently.
From the point of view of technical eventualities, this concern cannot be completely dismissed.
For customers who prefer "on-premise", we offer NAS-based central data storage. The endpoint devices must be protected and managed separately.
For cloud solutions, we set up the best possible secure access routes.
For example, we offer
- Setup of NAS (Private Public Container Cloud, ppCC), Synology, OMVcloud and many more)
Installation is carried out on-site or delivered pre-installed from remote
- Mercury mail server as MS Exchange replacement (individually designed, so that it is financially and administratively customized to suit the setup and maintenance duties)
Such a granular solution is successfully implemented by Dr. Möhring und Partner.

IT Legacy Support
Still maintaining old hardware and systems?
OS Support of Legacy Systems (also VM) - DOS, OS/2, Linux, Windows (Standard, Enterprise, LTSB, LTSC) VMWare, GEM, Netware Novell-x, Lotus Notes are still in use for existing infrastructure-critical and infrastructure-relevant systems that are not intended to have a connection to the Internet to avoid hacker attacks and to keep control panels of critical infrastructure running (waterworks, switchgear, technical systems).
Long-term data retention for continuity in data access (e.g. accounting, warehouse management, CRM management) in older software solutions mean protection of former financial investment.
These older software solutions can be retained or continue to run on newer hardware and within newer operating systems in virtual environments.
Dr. Möhring und Partner offer support in making decisions about whether specific software solutions and thus also older hardware should be retained, or when a complete switch to newer systems should be considered in terms of time, data transfer, data archiving or data protection.
The maintenance and continuous support of the legacy based installation running securely and reliably for many years is offered as service, too.
Alternatively, Dr. Möhring und Partner support and perform on demand the transition process from the legacy system onto newer hardware and installation environments.

Project Planning / Project Management
Good planning is the prerequisite for successful implementation
Dr. Möhring und Partner plan with a focus on application goals, data minimisation, data security, UX user-friendliness, and low learning effort.
Clear process structures, options for upscaling without constant upgrades and updates as a necessity, integration of different user areas in a common data storage structure, with
granular structures and open-source solutions for cost-effective and flexible, quickly adaptable IT solutions are preferred, especially for small businesses and freelancers.
For customers with special areas of application, Dr. Möhring und Partner focus on secure vertical and therefore long-lasting IT structures customized to clients' requirements.
Every project is based on individual specifications and is based on unique, individually adapted structures.

Data Services
Data handling services are divided into the following fields of activity and areas of responsibility
Data Transfer
All systems - data protection, GDPR, GDSR, data protection ACL and group management
Data transfers - data migration / data backups / data recovery / data management - user to user, cross-platform, cloud vs. on-premise
Data transfers are necessary for various reasons and require well-thought-out steps before the actual technical transfer.
- Why do data have to be transferred?
- Can these data become the property of the recipient?
- Should the data also be archived unchanged before the transfer?
- Are the data already available in formats that can be further processed later?
- Do data have to be pre-structured or filtered before the transfer?
- Are there suitable data storage structures for the transfer at the data source and at the data destination?
- Who carries out the data transfer in a technically error-free, factually proficient manner and in accordance with the previously defined target specifications?
- Who checks the data that can be accessed in the data target for completeness, consistency, etc.
This list of questions overwhelms most customers who are not themselves professionally active in the IT sector. Dr. Möhring und Partner can plan, carry out and finally check these and other necessary steps with and for the customer.
Data Storage / DMS
Document Access from Anywhere (DAA)
Some DAA users only deal with their data storage structures to a limited extent by using the default settings of the programs they use.
Only when third parties request information about stored personal data (e.g. possible under GDPR), or data can suddenly no longer be found, questions arise about secure, reliable, usable data storage structures.
For self-employed individuals, micro-entrepreneurs, and small companies with few employees, data "fall" more randomly into certain storage and filing areas on distributed data storage devices or devices.
Data consistency (data coherence), data timeliness and, above all, data backup, as well as data retrieval are therefore major challenges.
Dr. Möhring und Partner offer service with the structuring of data in advance, defines the required data areas with our customers, and ensures that data backups run automatically.

Data Protection
Data protection is often regarded as a necessary evil and a legally prescribed duty, without further consideration of the subject.
Data protection means more than using technical mechanisms in accordance with legal requirements in the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) or extended regulations for handling sensitive data.
In addition to the existing hardware and software solutions, which are a minimum requirement for the secure operation of a company, Dr. Möhring und Partner offer additional advice and training.
In everyday professional life, data protection also means raising awareness that data of any kind has a personal and sometimes confidential value, up to economically relevant to existence.
When managing the personal data of third parties, such as clients, patients, policyholders and those under their protection, employees and self-employed people usually think of the necessity to protect these data from unauthorized access by third parties, from data falsification, accidental data deletion or further distribution.
When storing your own company data, self-developed content, collected knowledge and data from your own customer projects, sometimes less thought is given to data protection, protection against industrial espionage, loss for the company as a knowledge base and as proof of services provided.
Depending on the type of self-employment, activity of the entrepreneur and the company, or handling of data as a service provider or office, Dr. Möhring und Partner advises and creates individual “best practice” concepts for and with our customers, for easy-to-follow data protection behavior and feasible, cost-optimized, technically appropriate protective routines.
Data Recovery
Data recovery is a situation that can rarely be planned in advance, as unexpected factors can suddenly make data inaccessible.
In various such emergency situations, Dr. Möhring und Partner have been able to help our customers with data recovery measures.

A customer had saved his personal data, data for online banking, insurances, patient data, emails, personal pictures on his laptop without having made an additional (current or regular) external data backup.
He was traveling when the notebook in his vehicle was damaged by a fire. The notebook was nothing but a charred object. The hard drive was mechanically severely damaged. Dr. Möhring und Partner were able to save his data from this hard drive.
After the data were saved and handed over on a new readable data storage device, the customer said: “You saved my digital life.”
